Lightning destroyed a barn and burned 18 ton of hay early Sunday morning, April 8, 1978 on the farm owned by Milton and Harold Krom, about 4 miles northwest of Withee.

The barn, being used by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rohland, who live next to the Krom farm, was struck by lightning at about 2:20 a.m.. Otto Rabska, a neighbor, heard the crash when the barn was struck, and went out see where it hit, finding the barn on fire. He attempted calling the Rohlands, but was unable to reach them….(the rest of the article was unreadable on my copy)
