Fahrenbach, William (27 Apr 1910 – 9 Feb 1978)

William Fahrenbach, age 67, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 1978 at Colonial House, at Colby, following a lingering illness.

Services were held at 1:30 Monday, February 13 at the First United Church of Christ in Colby. Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery near Withee. Services were provided the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

Pallbearers were Jack Nikolay,. Dr. E.D. Pfefferkorn, Mr. (unreadable) Alberts, Norman Hug, Hans Grondine, Lester Feke and Roland Roth.

Bill Fahrenbach was born on April 27, 1910 in the Town of Little Black in Taylor County. He married Hazel Stewart on September 20, 1931 in Withee. He operated Bill’s Tavern and meat market in Curtiss until 1945, when they moved to Abbotsford and operated Snook’s Tavern until 1948. They then moved to Florida for a short while, and then returned to Curtiss, where they operated Bill and Hazel’s Supper Club until 1955.

They moved back to Abbotsford in 1956 until 1968. He worked at Afkend’s IGA in Abbotsford for two years, and then the Colby IGA for fourteen years. He later worked for Jim’s Shurfine in Abbotsford until he retired in 1973. He moved to his residence in Colby in 1968.

He was a member of First United Church of Christ and the Abbotsford Lions Club.

Mr. Fahrenbach is survived by his wife, one brother, Herbert Fahrenbach of Curtiss; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Wredman of Abbotsford, Mrs. Orville (Lillian) Lieders of Abbotsford, Mrs. Bernice Fussner of Abbotsford, Mrs. Harvey (Irene) Witt of Hubertus, and Mrs. Eldred (Evelyn) Schraufnagel of Sparta.

He was preceded in death by one son, one sister, and one brother.
