Whittemore, George A. (12 May 1902 – 2 Jan 1978)

George A. Whittemore, age 75, of R.R. 2, Withee, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Monday, January 2, 1978 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Mr. Whittemore were held at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen on Friday, January 5, 1978 at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Lloyd Yaggie officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery near Withee.

Pallbearers were Ed Cizik, Butch Cizik, Earl Peterson, Herman Rabska, Allen Niemi, and Jim Alberts.

Mr. Whittemore was born on May 12, 1902 in West Allis, Wisconsin. He moved to Withee in 1918, and farmed there until he retired. He also worked as a mason. He never married.

He is survived by four brothers, Charles, Arthur, John and Robert Whittemore, all of Withee, and six sisters, Mrs. Walter (Norma) Sperling of Withee, Mrs. Emil (Alice) Hanke of New Berlin, Wisconsin, Mrs. Gebhardt (Agnes) Braatz of Schofield, Wisconsin, Mrs. Douglas (Ruth) Blum of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, and Miss Mabel Whittemore of Withee.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James Whittemore.
