Bogaard, William (24 Mar 1882 – 13 Sep 1973)

William Bogaard of Route 1, Abbotsford, died Thursday, September 13, 1973, at the age of 91. He had been hospitalized at the Medford Memorial Hospital.

Services were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, the Rev. Emil Hodnik officiating at 10 a.m. Interment followed in the Abbotsford Cemetery. The body lay in state at Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, Friday and rosary was said at 8 p.m.

William Bogaard was born March 24, 1882 in the Netherlands. His marriage to Wilhelmina Van Padua took place their in 1909. The couple came to America in 1910, settling at Kimberly. They moved to Nekoosa, where he operated a bakery, then to Edgar, and finally Abbotsford in 1927, where he operated a bkery and tavern until his retirement. Mrs. Bogaard passed away in 1967.

Survivors are Mrs. Ed (Mary) Kuwietzky, Florida, Clement of Geneva, Illinois, Alex of Tiger City, Oregon, and Robert of Abbotsford, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jim Nikolay, Joe Sulik, Frank Kulas, Tony Schmirler, George Vetter and Archie Melvin.
