Donald R. Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anselm J. Schmid of Dorchester, has been promoted to manager of the Sporting Goods Department of the K-Mart Department Store in Waukegan, Illinois.

He has been assistant manager of the department lest than a year prior to the appointment. Don is a 1969 graduate of Colby High School, and received a degree in Marketing and Business Management. He had formerly worked at Arlan’s Department Store in Wausau, and at Schmid’s Hardware and Supply in Dorchester.
