Akouris, John G. (9 June 1940 – 6 April 2022)

John G. Akouris, 81, of Greenwood, formerly of Wadsworth, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Three Oaks Health Services in Marshfield.

John G. Akouris was born on June 9, 1940, in Chicago, IL, the son of Gust and Eugenia (Belos) Akouris. He was raised and received his education in Chicago, where he graduated from high school. After high school, John took college courses and earned a degree in court reporting. He was united in marriage to Dianne F. Hefter on June 19, 1976, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Chicago. John first worked as a court reporter in Chicago, before eventually working as a building inspector in North Chicago until retiring in the mid-1990's.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Dianne, of Greenwood; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: James and Stanley; one sister: Georgia Falos; and his special cousin: Irene Akouris.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Krahn, Jr., Nathan Krahn, Don Larson, Charlie Larson, Brad Luck and Ryan Lindner. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
