Sterzinger, Joseph A. (12 Jun 1876 – 22 Aug 1973)

Funeral services for Joseph Anton Sterzinger, 97, of Colby, who died at his home in the Town of Colby, August 22, 1973, were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby on Friday. Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at the church, and burial service in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held at the Lulloff Funeral Home on Thursday, where a general rosary was said at 8 p.m.

Mr. Sterzinger was born in West Allis on June 12, 1876, and came to Colby with his parents at the age of six. He was education in the local schools and spent his entire life on the farm in the Town of Colby. He was married to the former Dena Hagelschur in May of 1906 at Colby. Mrs. Sterzinger died in May of this year.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and a charter member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include a son, Rudolph, of Colby; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Margaret) Greaser, Oxford; seven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, one daughter, three brothers and four sisters.
