Gabriel, August (29 October 1913-7 August 1983)

COLBY -- August J. Gabriel, 69, Sacramento, California, died there Sunday at Roseville Community Hospital.

Services will be Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. The Rev. James F. Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Catholic Cemetery. Visitations will be at the Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester.

He was born October 29, 1913 in Colby. He attended Colby Schools and Stevens Point. He and Irene Carter were married October 8, 1937. She died June 11, 1980.

He taught at Hilltop School, Town of Mayville, and worked more than 38 years for Libby-McNeil and Libby Co. at Dorchester, Lake Mills and Sacrament, California. He retired in 1978.

A trustee of Carmichael Elks Club No. 2103, Sacramento, Mr. Gabriel is survived by a son, John C. of Chicago; one brother, Joseph of Fort Atkinson; and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Scott of Orange, California, and Mrs. Anna Stoiber of Dorchester.

He was also predeceased by three brothers and five sisters.
