Six area high schools participated in the Sub-District Spring Speech contest at Colby High School on March 10, 1973. A total of 13 students will be representing Colby High School in the district meeting in Eau Claire.

- Extemp: Laurie Sterzinger and Lewis Nowicki, both B rating.
- Four Minute: Barb Rogers and Mary Langhus, both A rating.
