Ulrich, Julie Kay (21 June 1980)

Julie Kay Ulrich and John Haugen were married June 21, in Peace Lutheran Church, Cosmos, Minnesota, with the Rev. Al Rode officiating. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ulrich of Litchfield, Minnesota, and Mr and Mrs. Hiram Haugen, 205 Clay St., Neillsville.

Special music at the service was provided by Charles Lietzau, David Jerde and Lisa Kolstad.

The bride chose a floor-length gown of white organza which featured a modified v-neckline and a bodice trimmed with silk Venician lace. The long, full sleeves were accented with Venician lace appliques as were the flared skirts and flounced chapel train. Her matching fingertip veil had a Juliet cap with lace to match the gown. She carried a bouquet of long-stemmed yellow roses and baby’s breath.

Karen Peterson, a sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She was joined by Cindy Marquardt of Chaska, Mn., and Judy Musich, Prior Lake, Mn., both friends of the bride, and Bonnie Lupier, a sister of the bride. They were attired in floor length gowns of mint green, featuring pleated skirts and Queen Anne necklines trimmed in Venician lace. They wore daisies in their hair and carried bouquets of long-stemmed roses and baby’s breath.

Nicole Piepenburg of Litchfield and Jenna Haugen of Fall Creek, nieces of the bride and broom, were flower girls. They wore floor-length gowns of mint green, dotted Swiss and carried baskets of yellow rose petals.

The bride’s personal attendant was Carol Piepenburg of Litchfield and Nina Sweeny of St. David’s Philadelphia, Pa., sisters of the bride and groom.

Thom Erickson of Eden Prairie, a friend of the groom, was bestman. He was joined by David Zaborowski, a friend of the groom; and Steve Ulrich and Paul Haugen, brothers of the bride and groom. Ushering were Greg Ulrich, brother of the bride, and Jeff Herring, friend of the groom. Jeff Ulrich, the bride’s brother, was acolyte.

Following the ceremonies, a reception was held at the Cosmos American Legion Hall. After a wedding trip to Canada and the east coast, the couple will make their home in St. Cloud where both are seniors at St. Cloud State University.
