The Thorp Lions Club, in a special meeting last Thursday, honored Ken and Bev Stevens for their devoted service to the Thorp area over the last nine years.

Lion President Melcher called the meeting to order and introduced Lion Harland Schultz, master of ceremonies and general chairman for the evening.

As a part of the program, guests Jack and Joan Tetzner gave introductory talks about the history of the couple in Thorp.

Ken’s accomplishments include the outstanding work he has done in the instrumental division of the Thorp High School music department, and raising of the Thorp Band from a 32 member Class C outfit to a 85 member Class A award winning organization. Bev has spent many hours working with the baton twirlers, has been fund raising director locally for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Salvation Army, and been involved in many other activities, in spite of some serious general health setbacks.

Parents of the two were introduced to the surprise of the honored guests, Mr. and Mrs. Woody Wall of Withee and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Stevens of Wisconsin Dells. The fathers of Bev and Ken presented some interesting remarks about their early years.

Additional lauds and jibes were then offered by the Lions Postler, Zoromski, Fleming, Stuttgen and Merlak, as well as guest Dale Amundson.

It was a truly enjoyable evening for all, a night the club showed the appreciation the town has for these two people who have given so much of their time and themselves to the benefit of many in the community.

After heartwarming comments by the Stevens’, the club presented them with a floral arrangement and an attractive wall clock.

A delicious walleyed pike dinner.
