Karpinski, Linda L. (5 April 1942 – 14 December 2021)

Linda Lou Karpinski, 79, of Cazenovia, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Linda was born on April 5, 1942, in Donald, to Benjamin and Julia (Lent) Winger. She graduated from Gilman High School in 1960. On July 14, 1962, wedding bells rang as Linda joined hands in marriage with Marion Karpinski at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in Thorp. Their marriage was blessed with 55 years and four children.

Linda supported Marion in the purchasing of his family farm at Thorp in 1963. After 11 years of farming, they sold the farm and moved to Cazenovia in 1974. Linda worked various jobs throughout the years leading up to her last place of employment, the Ho-Chunk Casino in Wisconsin Dells. Linda worked almost 28 years at Ho-Chunk before her retirement in September of 2021.

In her spare time, Linda enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books, watching sports, favorite old time shows, plus game shows on TV. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, plus looking for bargains at auctions and garage sales.

Linda’s most favorite enjoyment of all was spending time with family and friends. Every summer she would look forward to attending family gatherings, especially her family’s annual weekend backyard campouts. Her biggest highlight was seeing all her grandkids and watching them grow.

She is survived by her children: Caroline (Bill) Stockwell of Wonewoc, Michael Karpinski (Thurley Neumaier) of Cazenovia, Bernadine (Rick) Downing of Wonewoc, Donna (Kirk) Dahm of Thorp; six grandchildren: Tiffany Waterman, LeaAnn Raupp, Kristopher Downing, Brent Demaske, Sarah Dahm, Amber Dahm; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 siblings: Ruth Hatton, James (Lou) Winger, Kenneth (Carol) Winger, Otis (Mitzi) Winger, Betty Cornell (Gene Romanowski), Larry (Cheryl) Winger, Jerry (Janice) Winger, Carla Cornell (Jack Gates), Charles Winger, Davey (Kristie) Winger, Tina (Daryl) Petznick; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; her parents; a grandson, Adam Demaske; two brothers: Benjamin Winger and Dick Winger; two brothers-in-law: Patrick Cornell and Virgil Hatton; two sisters-in-law: Verna Winger and Debra Winger; two nephews: Nicholas Petznick and Jerry “Punk” Winger; and one niece: April Winger.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu will officiate, and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
