The appointment of Stephen A. Garfield as director of finance of ITT Thorp Corporation was announced today.

He will be responsible for the accounting, budgeting, data processing and audit functions of the company, a subsidiary of International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation.

Prior to joining ITT Thorp, Garfield was controller for the Housing and Development Administration for the city of New York. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Fordham University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The Fort Lee, New Jersey native and his wife, Cheryl, are the parents of two children and will reside in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
