Schmidt, Charles W. (26 Mar 1908 – 7 Jul 1974)

Charles W. Schmidt, 66, a retired assistant postmaster, died at his home in Harlington, Texas on Sunday, July 7, 174. Charles was born March 26, 1908 at Thorp. On February 2, 1935 he was united in marriage to Juanita Myers at Stanley. He lived in Thorp all his life, until June 23, 1973 when he retired and moved to Texas.

Funeral services were held held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, on Thursday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Interment was made in the East Thorp Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Woody Woodworth, Albert Phillips, Lyle Christensen, Ronald Johnson, Tom Hedler and Malen Teclaw.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita; step-father, Ed Beller, Thorp; two sons, Rex of Minneapolis, Neal of Carrollton, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Sharon (Mrs. Rex Schmidt), Carolyn (Mrs. Neal Schmidt); one brother George Schmidt of Thorp, and one sister, Gladys Heiman, West Allis.
