The committee for holding the contest for “Miss Thorp” decided Wednesday morning
to cancel the competition when the deadline was reached Tuesday evening, and
only one contestant, Miss Pauline Symbal, Township of Thorp, had come forth, and
awarded her crown and title of Miss Thorp.
The crowning will be held before the championship softball game (about 9:00
p.m.) Saturday night, June 1, 1974 at the City Ball Park.
Miss Symbal as “Miss Thorp” will receive the queens share of the many gifts and
savings bonds that were donated by the Thorp business places.
