NHS-Class of 1930 (50 Year – 1 June 1980)

From the ‘flapper era’ come these grads: The clock was turned back 50 years when 25 Neillsville High School members of the Class of 1930 and their spouses gathered at the Neillsville American Legion Hall on Sunday evening, June 1.

It was an even more special event for three members of that class of ’30 who had not seen each other since graduation night. Reuniting for the first time were Fern (Richmond) Ackerman of Ogden, Utah; Dale Schweinler of Cape Coral, Florida; and Rosalie (Halverson) Boulieu of Stanley.

Festivities included pre-dinner music offered by Virginia Gassen; Schweinler serving as master of ceremonies; and each member of the class giving a brief resume of their life since graduation.

A tribute was given to nine members of the class who ae deceased. They are Joe Welch, Wayne Beilfuss, Agnes (Wetzel) Pilcher, Lillian (Chase) Whitney, Francis White, Florence (Eberhard) Pucel, Ada (Smith) Cameron, Ernest Begley and Isabelle (Zickert) Keach.

Following the meal, participants heard class member Herb Keller and Vernon Scholtz offer several musical numbers. The duo performed together back in high school days. Dancing completed the evening with more music by Gassen, Keller and later by Tiny Dux and Jerry Strack.

Classmates attending the celebration from away included Lynn Feutz, Wis. Rapids; Rosalie (Halverson) Boulieu, Stanley; Carol (Huntley) Bushnell, Owen; Dorothy (Lenzkow) Dux, Marshfield; Flossie (Loberg) Yunker, Phoenix, Az.; Evelyn (Mott) Kleuver, Milwaukee; Fern (Richmond) Ackerman, Ogden, Ut.; Vernon Scholtz, Waukesha; Dale Schweinler, Cape Coral, Fla.; Chester Seif, Augusta; Curtis Zschernitz, Green Lake; Lenore (Livesay) Riggs, Hales Corners; and Ross Downer, Granton.

Attending from the Neillsville area were Harry Ambelang, Ruth (Belter) Ebert, William Gallagher, Herb Keller, Herb Kurth, Della (Lawrence) Chase, Herman Moen, Cecelia (Nenahlo) Poziombke, Hazel (Peaslee) Lezotte, Theomore Vine, Fern (Wet) Kuehn and Elsie Zank.
