Marek, Virginia Anne (2 January 1928 – 22 November 2021)

Virginia Anne Marek, daughter of Artis and Thelma Harmon, died at age 93, in Eau Claire, on November 22, 2021. Virginia was a woman of deep faith and loved the Lord and her family very much. She was born at home in the township of Brockway in Jackson County on January 2, 1928. Her siblings were Evelyn, Robert, Donald, Laverne, and Artis Jr.

She married Charles Marek in 1947 and they have 5 children, Patricia, David, Carolyn, Lee and Tim. He passed away on May 29, 1966. In 1969, Virginia married George Marek (brother of Charles) and Virginia became a stepmother to Robert Marek and Carrie Ezzell. He passed away May 29, 2002.

Virginia served as the district school clerk for the townships of Dewhurst and Levis in Clark County. She also served on the Komensky town board and was a member of homemaker’s club which she enjoyed very much. She was famous for her beautiful cakes which she made for family and friends. Her plum dumplings and kolaches were the best. She also had a pleasant time with her cousins get togethers. She remembered with fondness the reunions in Montana over the years. Because of her great love of Blue Delft she relished her trip to Holland, Michigan several years ago with her son Lee and his wife. Virginia had a love of elephants and had quite the collection of them.

A cruise to Alaska with her sister Evelyn and niece Tammy Komparada was a dream come true for her. She moved to Eau Claire in July 2018 and resided at Our House Memory Care Assisted Living. She enjoyed her time there, made many friends and was well cared for by the staff.

Virginia is survived by daughter Carolyn (Ken) Hill, sons Lee (Nancy) Marek, and Tim Marek, and stepdaughter Carrie Ezzell. Grandchildren Paul, Scott, Robert, Joe, Lori, Heather, Jill, Amy, Adam, TJ, Tonya, Tasha, Krista, Wendy, Ed, Tim, and Jeff, many great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.
