Rhinehart, Arthur S. (26 May 1911 – 27 April 1980) With Flag

A Neillsville resident for the past five years and long-time surgical care specialist, Arthur S. Rhinehart, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital, Sunday, April 27. Mr. Rhinehart, who resided at 311 Court St., Neillsville, was 68 at the time of his death, which followed a brief illness.

He was born on May 26, 1911, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to William and Grace (Chamberlin) Simpson. He grew up and was educated in Endicott, N.Y., and entered the U.S. Navy in 1929, serving until 1933. He then earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio; and then earned a registered nursing degree from St. Elizabeth’s, Washington, D.C.

Rhinehart taught surgical procedures and assisted in surgery at the Alexian Brothers Hospital for 37 years. In 1970, Rhinehart married Beatrice Dunbar in Wheaton, Ill., ceremonies. In 1975, he retired, and the couple moved to Neillsville.

Rhinehart is survived by his wife; one son, Robert, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his first wife and one sister.

Graveside services were held on Monday afternoon, April 28, at the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. D.E. Sprague of the Neillsville Assembly of God Church officiated with the Gesche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
