Phipps, Judson (4 April 1922 – 12 April 1980)

Judson Phipps, 58, suffered a fatal heart attack at his farm home on Rt. 1 Granton. He was found dead around 9:00 p.m., Saturday April 12. He farmed in the Town of York until April of 1978 when he bought the Granton Café.

The deceased was born on April 4, 1922, in Granton to Arthur and Allie (Canfield) Phipps. He graduated from Granton High School in 1940. On January 11, 1943, he married Lucille Schmidt in Thorp ceremonies.

Surviving him besides his wife, is one son, Tom, Granton; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Nancy) Wagner of Odessa, Tex., and Mrs. Frankie (Margie) Filitz of Neillsville; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Bowman of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Mrs. Eva Bender of Prescott, Wash.

Funeral services at the Windfall Cemetery were held this past Tuesday afternoon, April 15. The Rev. William Noble of the Granton United Methodist Church officiated. Serving as pallbearers were William Beeckler, Erlin Dahl, Ross Downer, Leonard Reich, William Marley and John Hammond. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
