Johnson, Walter O. (11 June 1908 – 15 February 1980)
A longtime area garage mechanic, Walter O. Johnson passed away February 15 in
Neillsville Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Johnson of Neillsville was
71, at the time of his death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, February 19, from the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville with burial made in the city cemetery. The Rev. Gary
Clark of the Neillsville United Church of Christ officiated.
The deceased was born on June 11, 1908, in Kenosha, to Carl and Ella (Anderson)
Johnson. After receiving his education in that area, he moved with his parents
to the Loyal area. He worked on the home farm until moving to Neillsville where
he was employed as a mechanic at various garages for over 50 years, retiring in
1971. On September 16, 1936, he married Evelyn Westphal in Neillsville
ceremonies.
Surviving him, besides his wife, are two sons, Dennis of Camarillo, Calif., and
Robert of Neillsville; one brother, Russel, Loyal; and two grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Johnson, Walter O. (11 June 1908 – 15 February 1980)
Funeral services were held for Walter O. Johnson, 71, of Neillsville on Tuesday
afternoon, February 19, from the Gesche Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson passed away
four days earlier after a short illness.
The Rev. Gary Clark of the Neillsville United Church of Christ officiated with
burial made in the city cemetery. Deon Spangler provided music for the services.
Serving as pallbearers were Gene Ross, Elroy Johnson, Leo Kessler, William
Erpenbach, Herman Hagedorn and Alfred Kleckner.
Attending the services from out of town were Dennis Johnson, Camarillo, Calif.;
Mr./Mrs. Ed Kiedrowski, Trempealeau; Mr./Mrs. Sid Eular, Rice Lake; Mr./Mrs.
Bernard Langreck and Mr./Mrs. Russell Johnson, Jr., all of Marshfield; Mr./Mrs.
Russell Johnson, Loyal; Mr./Mrs. Bernard Anderson and Edith Churkey, all of
Owen; and Helmuth, and Helen Siems, Port Edwards.
