Tomkowiak, Anne (23 Jul 1905 – 17 Aug 1973)

Funeral services were conducted by Father Donald Sass at St. Josaphat’s Basilica in Milwaukee at 10:00 Tuesday morning, August 21, 1973 for Mrs. Anna Tomkowiak, who passed away at St. Francis Hospital of Milwaukee of a lingering illness on August 17, 1973.

Lectors and commentators of the requiem high mass were Leonard Kraczek, Floiran and Lorraine Tomkowiak, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hodorowski presented the gifts.

Anna Hodorowski was born in Milwaukee on July 23, 1905 and moved to Thorp in `907 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hodorowski (who are deceased) and resided on a farm in the town of Withee.

She was united in marriage to John Tomkowiak on July 3, 1923 at St. Hedwig’s Church of Thorp. They lived on a farm in the town of Withee until 1935, when they moved to a farm in the town of Longwood until 1949. Then they moved to Milwaukee.

Her husband passed away November 17, 1966; one sister, Clara Czernicki, died January 23, 1938; a brother Joseph died May 31, 1967; sister Molly was 5 months old and Adam died in infancy.

Surviving are two sons, Florian of Cudahy, Ervin of Owen; two daughters, Mrs. William (Delores Werner, Waterford, Mrs. Leonard (Christine) Kraczek, Greendale; three sisters, Mrs. Bill (Helen) Leski, Mrs. Joe (Rose) Zielinski, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Alfred (Pauline) Zielanis, Thorp; three brothers, John of Milwaukee, Harry and Frank of Thorp; ten grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Burial was at St. Albert’s Cemetery of Milwaukee. Pallbearers were her four grandsons, Robert Tomkowiak, Wayne Tomkowiak, Douglas Werner, Michael Kraczek and nephews Edward Czernicki and Joe Brzezinski.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Society, P.N.A. 54, Golden Agers and St. Luke’s Hospital volunteers.
