Blazek, Sophie R. (29 September 1911 – 16 October 1979)

Mrs. Sophie R. Blazek, 68, of Merrillan died Tuesday, October 16, in the Black River Memorial Hospital. She was born September 29, 1911, in Poland to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Martin. She came to America as a young woman. She married Anton Blazek and lived near Merrillan for several years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Gerzsik, Black River Falls, two sons, Stanley and Anton, both of Merrillan, two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Robinson of Hatfield and Frances Martin of Rockford, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1967.

Services were held Saturday morning in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center with the Rev. Joseph Marx officiating, with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Black River Falls. The Jensen Funeral Home at Hixton was in charge of arrangements.
