Johnson, Vernon Lee (2 July 1930 – 26 September 2021)

Vernon Lee Johnson, age 91, of Galesville, died on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville.

Vernon was born on July 2, 1930, in Richland Center to Alvin and Anna (Hansen) Johnson. He was a 1948 graduate of the Dodgeville High School. Vernon farmed and also owned a trucking company in Dodgeville for many years. In 1965, they moved to Greenwood and Vernon worked at Nelson Muffler in Neillsville and the Greenwood Feed Mill. In his spare time, Vernon liked to race go-carts, tractor pulling and enjoyed seeing the sites as he traveled the country in his semi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alvin Q. Johnson, Reuben Johnson and Nona (Bert) Bartlebaugh.

Vernon is survived by his former wife, Helen of Hixton; four children, Vernon Lee (Nancy) Johnson of Gilman; Emily (Anthony) Filla of Whitehall; David (Joan) Johnson of Black River Falls and June Johnson of Taylor; six grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Otter Creek Lutheran Church near Highland. Pastor Ramona Orton will officiate with burial in the Otter Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 10:00 A.M.
