Opelt, Carla Jean (8 September 1979)

With the Rev. Gary Clark of the Neillsville United Church of Christ officiating, Carla Jean Opelt and Mickey Ray Marty were wed in Saturday afternoon, September 8, ceremonies. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Opelt, Rt. 1 Neillsville are the parents of the bride while Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marty of Rt. 1 Neillsville, are the parents of the groom.

Kathy Lezotte was maid of honor. She was joined by Lisa Smith, Roberta Opelt and Lisa Opelt. Bestman was Lee Reinart, who was joined by Gene Marty, Dan Langreck and Jeff Urlaub. Ushering were Rick Opelt and Tom Marty while Chris Gates of Kenosha served as ring bearer and Wendy Sternitzky of Fall Creek served as miniature bride.

The bride’s gown featured English lace chapel train, scooped neckline, long lace sleeves, an empire waist and a fingertip veil. She carried a cascade of white roses and blue, pink, yellow and green carnations. The bridesmaids were attired in pastel-colored gowns of pink, yellow, blue and green, of sheer frock organza, halter style with matching jackets. They each wore a single carnation in their hair while carrying parasols that matched their dresses.

The wedding service included “The Wedding Song,”: “We’ve Only Just Begun,” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” as vocal selections.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at the American Legion Hall.

The couple will reside in rural Neillsville and announced that they would take a delayed honeymoon in October. She is a 1979 graduate of Neillsville High School and employed by the Neillsville Bakery while the groom is a 1977 graduate of the same school and is employed by Tesmer Construction of Neillsville.
