Herbel, Mr. and Mrs. George (Golden – 31 August 1979)

Mr. and Mrs. George Herbel, Mesa, Ariz., and summer residents of Grand View Trailer Park, in Neillsville, recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with two parties. A surprise party was held on August 30 at the Wildcat Inn and planned by friends, who spend their winters in Arizona. A poem, “Through 50 years,” composed by Mrs. Earl Zille, was read as were two poems, “Mother Tells Her Version: and “Father Gives His Version.” The balance of the evening, after a meal, was spent in card playing.

George and Mollie (Heffele) Herbel were married August 31, 1929, in Waukegan, Ill. Their attendants were Mollie’s sister, Lydia Heffele, and John Stamm, who later were also married.

The following were in attendance at the August 30 party: Mr./Mrs. James West, Mr./Mrs. Don Champeau, Mr./Mrs. Milo Reese, Mr./Mrs. Walter Trimberger, Mr./Mrs. Arne Matheson, Greta Dierks, Mr./Mrs. Fred Steinle, Mr./Mrs. Robert Opelt, Mr./Mrs. Elmer Georgas, Neillsville; Mr./Mrs. Earl Zille, Merrillan; Mr./Mrs. Franklin Reindel, Black River Falls; Mr./Mrs. Gale Burnett, Sparta; Dorothy Ann Ford, Great Falls, Mt.; Lorie Shurman, San Diego, Calif.; Mr./Mrs. Don Herbel and John and Terri, Green Bay; Mrs. Daryl Hardwick & Bradley, Humbird; and Linda Hardwick, Eau Claire.

On Saturday, September 1, relatives and friends gathered at the rural Humbird home of Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Hardwick, daughter and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Herbel. The following relatives and friends attended, Lydia Stamm, Barbara Hitz, Mr./Mrs. James Stamm & daughter, Mr./Mrs. Jake Heffele and Reiny of Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. Richard Stamm, Mountain Lake, Mn.; Dorothy Ann Ford, Great Falls, Mt.; Lorie Shurman, San Diego, Calif.; Mr./Mrs. Donald Herbel John & Terri, Green Bay; Mr./Mrs. Dennie Herbel & daughter, Mr./Mrs. Randy Stanley and Mr./Mrs. Daryl Hardwick & Bradley, of Humbird; Karen Hardwick, Black River Falls; Linda Hardwick, Eau Claire; Mr./Mrs. James West, Mr./Mrs. Don Champeau, Mr./Mrs. Walter Trimberger, Greta Dierks, Mr./Mrs. Fred Steinle and Mr./Mrs. Elmer Georgas, all of Neillsville.

Many gifts, cards, two golden wedding cakes and a money tree were received by the couple.
