Jeanette Ewert (nee Radley) of Germantown, passed away September 14, 2021, surrounded by family at the age of 87.

Beloved wife for 60 years of the late Melvin Ewert, Jeanette was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Dutzle (Bud). Daughter of the late Orville and Marie (Owens) Radley, she is survived by a sister, Betty Carey (Mike). Jeanette was a devoted mother to Dennis, Kent, Darla Potratz (Ray) and Darin (Jenni); loving grandmother of Shawn, MSgt Stephanie Ewert-Ossman (TSgt Jeremy (Ret)), Stacy, Samantha, Michael (Jessie), Zachary Cira (Jennifer), SSgt Abbigail, Joseph, Wyatt, Trevor and Sawyer; and great-grandmother of A1C Bryce Ossman, Brianna, Brennan, Shane, Myia, Parker and Riley. She was also survived by other friends and relatives.

Jeanette was born October 17, 1933, in Clark County, grew up on the family farm in Greenwood and attended school in Loyal. On June 25, 1955, she married Melvin, they had three children and lived in Colby until1959, when they moved to Milwaukee. Soon after, they built their forever home in Germantown and had their fourth child. Jeanette worked hard to take care of her home and family, always putting family first. Jeanette loved baking and her garden which she harvested for decades. She was brilliant with numbers and details and worked many years as a secretary for Bob Ryan Homes. Jeanette then started working as a rural mail carrier in Hubertus, where she (and Mel) retired from in 1998. Jeanette was the last living charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, Germantown Post 9202.

Visitation only was held Saturday, Sept. 18, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave., Menomonee Falls, WI 53051. Additional visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m., followed by service and burial at noon, St. John’s Lutheran Church, W1776 2nd Ave., Riplinger, WI 54479.
