Hanson, Virginia Elaine (1 September 1930 – 13 September 2021)

Virginia Hanson, age 91, of Granton, died Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center.

Virginia Elaine Berg was born on September 1, 1930, in Whitehall, the daughter of William and Edith (Nicols) Berg. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1948, and then worked at Judy’s Restaurant in Taylor and the Colonial Hospital in Rochester, MN before attending Winona Business College.

She married Alvin Clayton Hanson on December 8, 1951. They lived in Fayetteville, NC until returning to Janesville. They moved to Granton in 1958. Virginia worked at Weyerhauser, Steiner’s Store, Granton High School and she retired from the Granton Post Office in 1992.

Virginia was active in the Granton Civic Club, the Granton Library, the FFA Alumni and WELCA.

She is survived by her sons, Dan (Mary Jo) Hanson of Haugen, Allan (LouAnn) Hanson of Owen, and Bruce (Sheri) Hanson of Granton, four grandchildren, Chelsie Gawne-Mark, Erin (Tony) Passon, Josh and Jamie Hanson, five great grandchildren, Jueda and Cahill Gawne-Mark, Arie and Harper (Josh) Hanson, Carter and Hudson (Jamie) Hanson, Jack Passon and one sister, Delores Joten of Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Wayne Berg, Wesley Berg and Giles Berg.

A Memorial Service for Virginia will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Taylor, at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25 at the church.
