Granton FFA Degrees (1979)
Three Granton High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) members received their
Wisconsin State Farmer degree at the annual convention of the Wisconsin FFA
association at Green Lake, being held this week. They are Tom Hasz, Nick
Daleiden and Marvin Richmond. The degree is the highest the state association
can confer upon its members.
Tom Hasz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hasz, Town of Lynn, has a farming program
of diary animals, hogs and dairy herd improvement practices. He exhibits at the
junior livestock show in Eau Claire and the Clark County Fair and has just
received an all expense paid trip to a FFA leadership conference in Washington
D.C. His expenses are being paid by the FFA Alumni Association and he is one of
five members in the state to win this award.
Nick Daleiden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Daleiden, Town of Grant, earned his
degree with an agribusiness program of raising veal calves. He was
vice-president of the local chapter, junior director on a cooperative board and
a delegate to the National FFA convention in Kansas City a year ago. This fall
he will study business administration at UW-Stevens Point.
Marvin Richmond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Richmond, Town of Grant, will receive
his Wisconsin State Farmer degree with his project work of purebred dairy
cattle, herd improvement practices and a swine herd. He presently owns twelve
purebred dairy animals. He is currently FFA president and has a number of
judging contests. He is presently at Madison attending the 4-H Club Congress as
a county 4-H winner.
The three boys are now among 64 others from Granton High School who have become
Wisconsin State Farmers.
Attending the convention as Granton delegates are Nanette Daleiden and Mary
Drescher, newly elected vice-president and secretary, respectively. The girls
will attend with Francis Steiner, vocational agricultural instructor from the
school.
