Mazola, John M. (10 May 1915 – 11 June 1979) With Flag

John M. Mazola, 64, of Rt. 1 Fairchild, passed away at his home Monday morning after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were to be held this Thursday, June 14, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville at 10:30 a.m. Burial was to be made in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Fairchild, with Father David Zieglmeier of that parish officiating. He was a member of St. Joseph’s parish. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mazola was born in Illinois on May 10, 1915, to Frank and Helen (Dubvinsky) Mazola. At five years of age, he moved with his parents to the Neillsville area and attended Rock Creek School in the Town of Levis. He then worked as a milk hauler for his father for several years.

On July 26, 1938, he married Belle Hansen in Chicago ceremonies. The couple made their home in that city, and he worked for several years in the steel mills. Mazola, also was a World War II veteran, serving in the First Calvary and seeing action in the Pacific Theatre.

After the war, the Mazola’s moved back to Neillsville, and he worked for the county. He later moved to West Allis and worked for Allis Chalmers before returning to Chicago and working there eleven years. Mazola eventually moved back to Neillsville and worked for Plautz Brothers for several years, retiring due to failing health.

Surviving him besides his wife are three sons, John, Jr., and Albert of Milwaukee, and Edward of Oak Park, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Nick (Beverly) Panagiotaros, Roselle, Ill.; two brothers, Frank and Joseph, both of Neillsville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mazola, John M. (10 Nay 1915 – 11 June 1979)

Funeral services were held for John M. Mazola, 64, on the morning of June 14 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville with the Rev. David Ziegelmaier officiating, with burial held in the parish cemetery.

With the Gesche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, Ed Struensee, Charles Tichy, Don Champoux, Robert Kutchera, Herb Scheel and Lyle Abrahamson were pallbearers. St. Mary’s choir, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Short, offered “How Great Thou Art,” “ Evening Prayer” and “Hear, Oh Lord.”

Those attending from out of the community included Mr./Mrs. John Mazola & family, Mr./Mrs. Albert Mazola & family, Mr./Mrs. Randt Pykill & daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Seelow and Richard Seelow, all of Milwaukee; Beverly Panagiotaros & children, Roselle, Ill.; Mr./Mrs. Eugene O’Brien, Brookfield; Steve Skeba, Racine; Barbara Thompson, Mr./Mrs. Danielson & family and Barbara Field, of Eau Claire; Val Beneck and Mrs. Louie Johnson, Denmark; Mr./Mrs. Frank Pluemer, and Mr./Mrs. Gordon Michel, Faribault, Mn.; JoAnn Blum, Minneapolis and Mr./Mrs. Herman Franceu, Unity.
