Panzer, DuWayne L. (27 March 1937 – 10 September 2021) With Flag

With a heavy heart, we are sad to say that our Dad, Husband, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, DuWayne Panzer, has passed to his heavenly home. The past few years of his life have been very difficult. Now he is with our Savior, free of pain and mental anguish. We will cherish all the happy memories and love him forever.

DuWayne was born on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1937, to Elizabeth & Paul Panzer. He was the youngest of seven children and was baptized on May 4, 1937; confirmed on March 18, 1954 – both at Immanuel Lutheran Church Hewitt, where he was a member his entire life. He graduated from Auburndale High School, on May 26, 1955, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge on 31 January 1963.

On Oct. 7, 1959, DuWayne married Margaret Wundrow at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. A very family man, DuWayne and Margie had raised four beautiful children: Brenda (Paul) Kruse, Rhonda Schreiner (Erik Gustafson), Cindy (Mark) Pryer, and Dale Panzer. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren: 22 great-grandchildren (and one on the way).

DuWayne & Margie spent 63-plus years together enjoying many busy trips to various parts of the U.S. He was a great fan of Country Western music; the Brewers, Packers and Badgers (enjoying many Brewers games with family and friends. He loved playing softball until he was in his early 60s and coached softball for many years, including 4-H and girls’ teams in the Auburndale and Marshfield area.

He farmed for 30 years and always had side jobs to provide for his family, including Hewitt Block Company, Farmers Co-op in Marshfield, TDS Telephone Company and Marshfield Post Office as a rural carrier for 18 years.

In the end, it was sad to see the deterioration of health, but it is the course of natural progression of life.

DuWayne was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth & Paul; brothers, Elmer, Arnold, Norman & Harry; sisters, Marian Lieck, Dorothy (Emery Berry) who was his 2nd mother. Also, preceded by mother-and-father-in-law, Mildred & Reuben Wundrow, and many special family members & friends.

The family would like to thank all who helped during these difficult years – you know who you are. Also, great appreciation to Heartland Hospice staff and Wells Nature View Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided over the years.

Thank you to Meg Przoylinski from Inclusa for helping our family through this process. We truly appreciate all of you.

It takes a good man to be a great Dad. He loved his children more than words can describe. We will love him forever.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Sep. 13, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt. Rev. Dean Pingel will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be DuWayne’s grandsons: Jason Widman, Nick Panzer, Derek Novotny, Noah Nothnagel, Justin Kruse, Brad Guralski & Logan Schreiner.
