Hauge, Edwin C. (? – 29 May 1979)

Funeral services were held for Edwin C. Hauge, 83, Grand Ave., Neillsville, from the Gesche Funeral Home last Friday afternoon, June 1. He passed away on May 29.

Music was offered by Vanita Volkert and Mae Peters and included “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Lead Kindly Light.” With the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating, burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Hauge, Randy Hauge, Steve Biechler, Jerome Teclaw, Brian Teclaw and Gary Adler.

Attending from out of town were Helen Horner, Dayton, Oh.; Mr./Mrs. Donald Teclaw and Brian, Greendale; Jerry Teclaw, Milwaukee; Donna Teclaw, Menomonee Falls; Mrs. Carl Biechler, Sr., Mrs. Carl Biechler, Jr., Mr./Mrs. Robert Biechler and Mr./Mrs. Steve Biechler, of Marshfield; and Kathy Biechler, Dodgeville.

Also attending were Mr./Mrs. Gary Adler, Pittsville; Mr./Mrs. Harry Hauge, Mosinee; Audrey Logsdon, Mazeppa, Mn.; Mrs. Stanley Charon, Rice Lake; Mr./Mrs. Dave Bender, Granton; June Dudei, Plainfield; Mr./Mrs. Paul Firnstahl & Cindy, Colby; Mr./Mrs. H. Mohr, Eau Claire; and Mr./Mrs. George Nast, Willard.

Hauge, Edwin C. (1 April 1895 - 29 May 1979) With Flag

A former Neillsville businessman, Edwin C. Hauge, 83, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning, May 29. Hauge was buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery this past Friday after services from Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating. Masonic services were held one day earlier.

Mr. Hauge was born on April 1, 1895, in Neillsville to Alfred and Carrie (Halverson) Hauge. After his education, he entered the military, May 2, 1918, serving in France and seeing action in the Battle of the Meuse and Argonne Forest.

After discharge on June 23, 1919, Hauge became a partner with his father in the fuel oil and drayage firm known as A. Hauge and Sons, and shortly after that married Lorene Broiher, April 14, 1923, in Neillsville ceremonies. In 1927, his father died, and he continued to operate the business until retirement in 1953.

He was a member of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post, the F.&A.M. Neillsville Lodge and the local chapter of the Royal Arch Masons.

Listed as survivors are his wife, one son James Hauge, Neillsville, three daughters, Mrs. Helen Horner of Dayton, Oh., Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Teclaw of Greendale and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Biechler of Marshfield, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were one brother, Henry, and one sister, Alvinia.
