Mayor Says, ‘This Week Is Special’ (1979)

Mayor Kenneth Olson signed a city proclamation this week, March 11-17, as “Older Worker Week.”

Olson’s statement said that he endorsed the efforts of the federal government on behalf of the older workers and that he urged all employers of the area to give special considerations to the skills and qualifications of those over 55 years of age.

There are 45 million Americans over 55 years of age and many have difficulty finding work for no reason other than that there is a prejudice against the older workers.
