Rizner, Anton (15 February 1907 – 3 March 1979) With Flag

Anton Rizner, 24 Court St., Neillsville, passed away suddenly in the Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 3. Rizner a private pilot, was active in the Neillsville Area Flying Club and was known locally as an inventor of toys, some of which gained a national market.

Rizner was born on February 15, 1907, in Chicago to Michael and Rose (Kalas) Rizner. He moved to the Neillsville area at the age of there with his parents and attended schools in the Shortville community until moving back to Chicago to complete his school.

Prior to attending LaSalle Business School in Chicago, he married Frances Ruddock in August 20, 1938, Neillsville ceremonies. Rizner than saw action as a Marine in World War II. After the war, Rizner worked in Chicago for the Fishlove Company for 43 years, retiring in 1970 and moving back to Neillsville.

Surviving him besides his wife is one son, Charles of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Ponath, Cincinnati, Oh.; two sisters, Albie Rizner and Mrs. Bessie Meier, both of Neillsville; five brothers, Emil and William of Neillsville, Edward of Tomah, George of West Allis and Frank of New Berlin; plus, three grandchildren. No immediate family preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Rizner, 72, were to be held Wednesday afternoon, March 7, from the Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark, pastor of the Neillsville United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
