Johnson, Carl H. (18 Mar 1894 – 03 Dec 1972)

Carl H. Johnson, 78, Colby, died of an apparent heart attack while attending church services Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s for Mr. Johnson, with the Rev. Francis Rushman officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born in the town of Unity in Clark County on March 18, 1894. He married the former Anne Schommer, who survives.

Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. (Lenore) Switlick, Omor; Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Lenz, Marshfield, and Mrs. Joe (Doris) Orth, Brockport, N.Y. Two sons, Lorris of Colby and Carl Jr., Burlington, also survive, along with two sisters, Mrs. Al (Hilda) Justman, Unity and Mrs. Ed (Elsie) Dommer, Oshkosh.

A total of 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.

Two sisters preceded him in death.
