Moen, Karin (23 September 1978)
In front of an altar decorated with yellow, orange and bronze mums, Karin Moen
and Jeff Meier exchanged wedding vows, September 23, in Covenant Lutheran
Church, Stoughton. The bride is the daugher of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Moen,
Stoughton, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Meier, Rt. 1
Neillsville. With the Rev. Baumbach officiating, the father of the bride gave
her away at the beginning of the double ring ceremony.
The bride chose a princess-style gown of ivory polyganza featuring a
waist-length sculptured front yoke of Chantilly floss lace, high collar and
slender sleeves. Pearl embroidery accented the ruffled yoke and sleeves while
the flared skirt had Venician appliques, and a deep lace flounce extended to a
cathedral train. Her fingertip illusion veil was of matching lace and fell from
a Camelot headpiece. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow roses and baby’s
breath, accented by orange and brown starflowers.
Serving as matron of honor was Madelyn Hagen, who was joined in the party by
Marilyn Nelson, Mayre Bothum and Kathy Heggestad. They were attired in
sand-colored gowns of Jersey knit, complete with halter bodice, a high wedding
ring collar over a gathered from, flared skirt and bolero jacket. They carried
bouquets of yellow and bronze mums, orange silk roses, brown starflowers and
brown velvet streamers. Each of the ladies was accented by a Norwegian pin.
Mark Arneson, Stoughton, served as bestman. He was joined by Mike Meier,
Neillsville, and Jim Moen and Tim Heggestad, both of Stoughton. Tom Meier,
Neillsville, and Dan Moen, Stoughton, were ushers.
Mrs. Julian Moen chose a teal blue knit gown with matching cape while Mrs.
Clarence Meier was attired in a peach-colored knit gown with matching jacket.
Both mothers of the honored couple wore corsages of yellow roses.
“Color My World,” “Follow Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer” were sung by Brian Gjeremo,
accompanied by Ruth Miller. A reception and dance at the Stoughton VFW Hall
followed the ceremony with 250 attending.
The bride is a graduate of Madison General School of Nursing and is employed as
an R.N. at Stoughton Community Hospital. The groom is a graduate of District I
Technical Institute, Eau Claire, and is employed as a lab technician at Nelson
Muffler, Stoughton. The couple, who will make their home in Stoughton, took a
Northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan wedding trip.
