Knippel, Leona E. (17 June 1901 – 7 November 1978)

A former Pine Valley farm wife, Leona E. Knippel, 77, passed away Tuesday, November 7, in the Neillsville Memorial Hospital. The deceased was born June 17, 1901, in Dunn County to Sylvester and Emma (Lehman) Styer. After her education in Dunn County, she married Henry Galgusch and the couple moved to Milwaukee where she worked until his death in 1942.

On May 9, 1946, she married Frank Knippel in Stillwater, Minn., ceremonies and the couple moved to the Town of Pine Valley where they farmed until his death in 1968. She then moved to Neillsville, where she resided until death.

Surviving Mrs. Knippel are three daughters, Mrs. Bryan (Deveda) Plummer of Granton, Mrs. Bernard Plummer of Withee and Mrs. Roy (Ruth) Price of Lebanon; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Emily) Webb, Harrison, Ark.; two brothers, Grant and Lloyd Styer, both of Knapp; seventeen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her two husbands, one sister, two brothers and one grandson.

Mrs. Knippel was to be buried Friday after 1:30 p.m. services from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman Lindloff officiating. Visitation was scheduled for the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Thursday evening from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to noon and then one hour at the church, prior to church service.

Knippel, Leona E. (17 June 1901 – 7 November 1978)

Funeral services were held November 10 for Leona E. Knippel, 77, who passed away three days earlier in Neillsville. With the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating, the service was held in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Music was offered by St. John’s School Choir, accompanied by Paul Tess, and included “The Lord Is My Shepherd” and “Heaven Is My Home.” Pallbearers included Pete McCammant, Bill Dux, August Mayer, Martin Krause, Gene Kolbo and Ron Post. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Attending services from out of town were Mr./Mrs. Grant Styer and Lloyd Styer, of Knapp; Mr./Mrs. Carl Webb, Diamond City, Ark.; Mr,/Mrs. Boyd Plummer, Las Vegas, Nev.; Phil Brehm, Mr./Mrs. Joe Styer, Mr./Mrs. Clarence Styer. Mr./Mrs. Donald Skillings and Theresa Knutson, of Menomonie; Mrs. Wayne Davies, Madison; Mrs. Laverne Mousel, Rockford, Ill.; Gerald Brehm, Janesville; Pauline Jennings, Aurora, Ill.; Roland, Jerome & Richard Webb, Homewood, Il.; Mrs. Wayne Swearnzer, Oak Forest park, Ill.; Karen Fay & family, Greenwood; Marie Ruby, Bernard Plummer, Pamela Varney, and Sylvia Sheldon, of Withee; Mr./Mrs. Ronald Past & family, Marshfield; and John Fay, Chicago.
