Kowalczyk, Susan M. (18 October 1953 – 25 August 2021)
Susan M. Kowalczyk, 67, of Marshfield, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021,
at home.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1953, in Stanley, to the late Joseph S. and Carolyn (Cukla)
Kowalczyk, and attended school in Gilman through the 11th grade, and graduated
high school in Loyal in 1971.
Susan enjoyed all types of crafts, sewing, crocheting, and knitting, making the
most beautiful clothing, Afghans and accessories. She was a perfectionist – she
could have 20 rows done, and if she spied a stitch out of line, she would rip it
all out and start over.
She loved to binge on movies (the ones that would come as an entire series). She
also enjoyed cooking and baking for the holidays. She especially loved her cats
and children.
Susan had worked at the Loyal Canning Co., the telephone company in Marshfield
as an operator, cleaned at the Old Dutch Motel, and most recently prior to
retirement, she worked at Marshfield’s Parks & Rec’s Wildwood Park.
Survivors include her son, Jason Reckner of Rock Springs, Wisc.; daughter,
Josephine Reckner of Marshfield; brothers, Rodney Kowalczyk of Loyal, and Robin
Kowalczyk of Marshfield; sister, Laurie Kowalczyk of Loyal; nephew, Eliot
(Amanda) Kowalczyk – and their children, great-nieces Charley and Parker
Kowalczyk of Neillsville.
A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for Susan.
The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marshfield, is assisting
the family. Online condolences may be made at
