Pink and white bouquets of flowers graced the altar of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, for the wedding of Miss Mary Christine Firnstahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Firnstahl, to E. Michael Mikula, Wausau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mikula, Ladysmith. The Rev. Frank Rushman performed the 5 p.m. ceremony on July 1, 1972.

Barb Meyer, Colby, sang “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “One Hand One Heart” and “Ave Maria”.

The bride wore a floor length A-line skirted gown of voile with matching mantilla train veil which was styled with a molded empire bodice appliqued with a bib effect of crocheted lace over wide bands of pink satin ribbon and center with voile covered buttons. The bodice had a scalloped lace mandarin collar and the long sheer puffed sleeves had a wide ruffled lace cuff.

The skirt was edged with wide ruffled flounce of the lace and was also trimmed with bands of lace. The train veil bordered with matching lace secured to an organza forward headpiece of layered bows beaded with pearls and a lace floral brim, trimmed with pink satin bows with streamers at the back. She carried a found bouquet of pink roses, white carnations, white baby’s breath and green ivy.

Miss Connie Firnstahl, Wausau, served her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Judy Hedler, Colby, cousin of the bride; Miss Yvonne Mikula, Ladysmith, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Nancy Goeltz, Colby, a friend.

The attendants wore formals of white crocheted lace and hot pink voile were fashioned with a fitted bodice of the lace over the voile having a high ruffled collar, ruffled rib centered with hot pink satin covered buttons.

The tapered sleeves were edged with a narrow ruffle of the lace and hot pink satin ribbon circled the waistline with bow and streamers at the back. The A-line skirt were finished with a wife ruffled flounce of the solid hot pink voile.

They wore scattered pink daisies in their hair and carried white baskets of shaded pink daisies, white carnations and purple baby’s breath.

Best man was Dave Kroening, Ladysmith, a friend of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Craig Paulson, Ladysmith, a friend; Don Mikula, Bay City, Mich., brother of the bridegroom and Emanuel Firnstahl Jr., Colby, brother of the bride.

Ushers were Gary Primeau, Abbotsford, uncle of the bride, and Art Walters, Neenah, cousin of the bridegroom.

A dinner was held in St. Mary’s School gym immediately following the ceremony for 160 guests. A reception and dance were held in the evening in the Abbotsford City Hall.

The bride is a 1969 graduate of Colby High School and is employed by Employers Mutual Insurance Co., Wausau. The bride groom is a 1968 graduate of Ladysmith High School and a 1972 graduate of North Central Technical Institute, Wausau, and is employed by the Drott Mfg. Co of Wausau.

Out of town guests were present from Abbotsford, Ladysmith, Wausau, Schofield, Stratford, Neillsville, Brookfield, Sheldon, Milwaukee, Neenah, Unity, Wittenburg, Curtiss, Marshfield, Medford, La Crosse, Stevens Point, Phillips and Marathon.

Out of state guests were from California, Montana, Michigan and Maryland.
