The graduating class of 1952 of Dorchester High School observed its 20th
anniversary Saturday night, July 1, at Club Florena at Medford. The affair began
with an 8 p.m. social hour followed by an eight o’clock dinner. Fifteen of the
22 graduates and their spouses were present.
There were: The Rev. and Mrs. Arlan Busse, St. Cloud, Florida; Mr. and Mrs.
Melvin Gruber (Bernette Ellenbecker) and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Shirley) Pope,
Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Zimpel (Myrtle Laabs), Chippewa Falls; Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Ross (Greta Gebert), Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gebert (Mary Ann
Sulik), Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Bach (Joanne Seidel), Medford; Mr. and Mrs.
Kayo Pope, Stetsonville; Mr. and Mrs. John Pinter (Janet Schumacher), both were
graduates, Mr. and Mrs. William Rau, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Mertens, James Kramer,
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Zak (Betty Mueller), and Mr. and Mrs. George Rau (Arlen
Tauchen), all of Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwierske, Mt. Horeb, were
special guests. He was the class advisor.
Picture and scrapbooks were displayed, and each member told something about
activities during the past twenty years. Special prizes were won by Dennis
Mertens, Mrs. George Rau, James Kramer, Mrs. Schwierske, Mrs. Ross and Mrs.
Zimpel. Mrs. Buss served as master of ceremonies, and the Rev. Busse led the
meal prayer.
The committee in charge of arrangements included Mrs. Buss, Mrs. Gebert, Mrs.
Gruber. Another reunion will be held in five years. The committee to plan for it
will be Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Zimpel and Mrs. Bach.
