Granton Classes, 1927, ’28 & ’29 (Reunion – 24 June 1978)

Celebrating 49, 50, and 51 years since graduating from Granton High School were a number of men and women who recently gathered at the Bali Hai Supper Club, June 24, for a reunion. A social hour took place followed by a banquet. The evening was spent renewing friendships with classmates and remembering days spent some 50 years ago.

The following classmates and spoused attended from the 1927, 1928, and 1929 classes:

Class of 1927 – Harold and Mamie Gardner Scharf, and Mrs. Hazel Chapel Braun, Granton; Axel and Lila Lee Henriksen, Tiskilwa, Ill.; and Mr. and Mrs. Linton Jahr, Fullerton, Ca.

Class of 1928 – Herb and Marie Schroeder Nielson, Eau Claire; Ted and Ursula Davis Carlson, Pharr, Tex.; Mr./Mrs. Wesley Jahr, Marshfield; Norman and Lela Downer Syverson, Colfax; Mr./Mrs. Ted Crandall, Green Bay; Ortwin and Hilda Garbisch Schimmel, Superior; Donald and Gertrude Bartz Hughes, Ventura, Ca.; Edward J. and Elizabeth Wonser Noyes, Kensington, Md.; Mr./Mrs. Ralph Winn, Galesville; and Mr./Mrs. Byrl E. Departed members of the classes include Hulda Henze Downer and Harold Minett, both of the Class of 1927; Roderick Rausch, Willard Johnson, Rachel Coyle, Arnita Garbisch, Erlin Bergemen and Floyd Higgins, all of the class of 1928; and Frances Handke, Walter Garbisch and Vernon Peterson, all of the class of 1929.

A social gathering of members of the classes was also held at the Granton Park in the afternoon on June 24. The group had an opportunity to view new additions to the Granton School’s complex.

Committee members who assisted in the reunion were Ursula Davis Carlson, Marion Sam Schroeder, Irma Bartz West and Bryl E. Rowe. A committee was also chosen to plan another reunion in five years with the classes of 1930 and 1931 added to the ’27, ’28. And ’29 graduates.
