Bender, Sandra Kay (3 June 1978)

With the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating, Sandra Kay Bender and Gary Lee Mann were united in matrimony before the altar at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville, this past Saturday, June 3. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bender, Rt. 3 Neillsville, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mann, Jr., Rt. 1 Unity.

As the 1:00 p.m. service began, the bride’s father gave her away while music was furnished by JoAnn Ruzic, accompanied by Paul Tess, both of Neillsville.

The bride wore a white floor length gown complete with a square neckline, capped long sleeved lace bodice and cathedral trin with tiers of lace and ruffles. Her lace trimmed veil cascaded from a crystal crown headpiece. She carried a heart-shaped bouquet of pink roses, white carnations, ferns, and baby’s breath.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Jeanie Beaudette, Jim Falls. She was joined by Sara Weise, Wausau, Mary Kleinschmidt, Chili, and Mrs. Linda Bender, Loyal. All were attired in floor-length, sleeveless gowns of white with blue floral print which showed ruffle flounces around the neckline and had a sash tied in the back. They also wore crowns of spring flowers and carried baskets of spring flowers. Serving as miniature bride was Becky Denzine, Medford, who was dressed similar to the bride. Aiding her was Alan Bender, Medford, as ring bearer.

The best man was Alan Carlson, Unity, who was assisted by Todd Schug, Athens, Dale Kloehn, Unity, and Dale Bender, Loyal, all wearing baby blue tuxedos. Ushers were Danny Oehmichen and Dave Kunze, both of Colby.

After the ceremonies, a dinner was held at the Wildcat Inn, Neillsville, a reception followed at the bride’s parents’ home and the day was capped off with a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The bride is a 1975 graduate of Neillsville High School while the groom is a 1975 graduate of Colby High School. He is employed as a field-tester for the Farmers Union Milk Marketing Cooperative, Madison. After a honeymoon to an undisclosed destination, the couple will reside on Rt. 2, Neillsville.
