Doud, Herbert “Red” (15 September 1927 – 14 June 2021) With Flag

Herbert "Red" Doud passed away at the age of 93 on June 14, 2021.

He was born to Carl E Doud and Ollie E (Schwartz) Doud on September 15,1927 in the Township of Mead in Clark County.

Red graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for most of his years. Upon his discharge he returned back to Black River Falls.

He married Alice E Zillmer on July 14th, 1953. They had no children.

Red was an active member of the Black River Falls Fire Department and EMS service for over 30 years. He took pride in being one of the first EMT's to be registered in the state with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician State number of 47. He retired from the department with an honorary title of "Fire Chief"

He was also a special officer with the Jackson County Sheriffs' Department and the Black River Falls Police Department for many of those years.

Red was employed at several places as mechanic for many years, Moose Peterson Chevrolet Olds and the Mobil Station downtown Black River Falls. He also worked construction for several construction companies in Jackson County.

Red enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was an avid trout fisherman fishing many of the streams in Jackson County, stating you always have to fish going upstream. He never kept his fish he always donated them to others to eat. Every fall he looked forward to deer hunting with family in the river bottoms of the Black River. He also enjoyed playing the lottery, stopping at several locations playing his favorite numbers.

He is proceeded in his death by his parents, his wife Alice who he was married to for 63 years one brother, Ralph (June) Doud, two sisters, Lucille (Oscar) Miller and Noralee (Anton) Hanson all of Black River Falls.

He is survived by four nephews and two nieces.

A visitation service for Red will be Tuesday June 22, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at the Little Norway Lutheran Church, N4755 Gus Road, Black River Falls, WI 54615. Pastor Denise Anderson will officiate at a graveside service at 2:00 PM at the Little Norway Cemetery.

The Buswell Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., in Black River Falls is serving the family, (715) 284-2231.
