Wilding, Emma L. (1 November 1878 – 24 December 1978)

Emma L. Wilding, who celebrated her 100th birthday on November 1, passed away on Christmas Eve in the Neillsville Memorial Home. Mrs. Wilding has been a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home for the past nine years.

Mrs. Wilding was born November 1, 1878, in Jefferson County to Charles and Alvina (Hornickel) Froelich. After receiving her education in that area, she worked in the Watertown area for several years. In 1905, she married Henry Bohnsack and the couple moved to the Town of Weston where they farmed.

After the death of her husband in 1927, she moved to Neillsville and worked at the Merchants Hotel for several years. In 1932, she married Jesse Wilding and the couple moved to the Town of Washburn where they farmed for many years, retiring in 1944 to Neillsville. Her second husband passed away in April 1976.

Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. Emma Alstot, Neillsville, one step-daughter, Mrs. Donald (Lucille) Kalsow, Neillsville and three grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her two husbands, three sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were to be held this Thursday afternoon, December 28, from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. William Noble of the Neillsville United Methodist Church was to officiate, and burial was to be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Wilding, Emma L. (1 November 1878 – 24 December 1978)

Funeral services were held for Emma L. Wilding, 100, on December 28, from the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Mrs. Wilding passed away on December 24. She was a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home at the time of her death. The Rev. William Noble, pastor of the Neillsville United Methodist Church, officiated, with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery, pallbearers included Dale Reinhardt, Theomore Vine, Ernest Kuhn, Lawrence Bohnsack, Lyall Johnson and Herbert Blum.

Offering music for the service was Cora Noble, singing “Have Thine Own Way, Lord” and “How Great Thou Art,” accompanied by Vanita Volkert.

Those attending the services included numerous friends from the Shortville, Greenwood and Christie areas.
