Hahto, John L. (12 Nov 1907 – 10 Nov 1976)

John L. Hahto, Route 1, Owen, died in the emergency room of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield at 3:06 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 1976. He was 68.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with the Rev. Lloyd Yaggie, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, officiating. Burial was made in Withee Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were George Reinhart, Frank Reinhart, Alfred Arndt, Art Himes, Sherman Gosse and Charles Kovatch.

Mr. Hahto was born November 12, 1907 in Waukegan, Ill., and married the former Molly Kauncnik on December 1, 1929 in Waukegan. He lived in the Owen-Withee area until 1929, when he returned to Waukegan, where he worked as a welder for the Pacific Boiler Works, and later for Frank G. Hough Co. He retired in 1963. He had resided at Route 1, Owen, since 1975.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John J., Owen, and James, Waukegan, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Molly) Logan, Garland, Tex., Mrs. Don (Margaret) Hedrick, Hope, Ind., and Miss Jacqueline Hahto, Waukegan, Ill.; six sisters, Mrs. Martha (Niemi, Withee, Mrs. Elmer (Linda) Lytikanen, Maywood, Ill., Mrs. Helen Piekola, Withee, Miss Ina Hahto, Highland Park, Ill., and Mrs. Vivian Acker and Mrs. Edward (Bertha) Krumrey, both of Grayslake, Ill, and eight grandchildren.

Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
