Dux, Herman E. (13 June 1899 – 17 January 1978)

A retired Town of Weston farmer, Herman E. Dux, 78, was buried Friday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Globe. He was born and educated in the Town of Pine Valley, farmed in the Town of Weston until his retirement in 1962. He passed away suddenly at his Rt. 3 Neillsville home on Tuesday, January 17.

Afternoon funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Stuebs officiating. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, was in charge of arrangements.

He was born to William and Bertha Dux on June 13, 1899. He married Elfrieda Schoenherr, on September 14, 1921, who survives him. Also surviving are two children, Louis, and Mrs. Gordon (Gladys) Thoma, both of Neillsville; one brother, Robert, of Lancaster, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

The congregation sang “Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me,” “Nearer MY God To Thee” and “Asleep In Jesus.” With burial being made in the church cemetery, pallbearers were Erwin Dux, Verlyn Dux, Norman Dux, Melvin Dux, Everett Dux and Clarence Hagedorn.

Those attending the funeral included Mr./Mrs. Emmett G. McDonough and Mrs. Michael Bracy and Michael, of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; Robert McDonough, Mt. Prospect, Ill.; Daniel McDonough and Michael Brady and Michael, Chicago; Mrs. Edwina Pemperton, Oregon; Mr./Mrs. Kurt Schoenherr, Mr./Mrs. Paul Schoenherr and Mr./Mrs. Jerry Schoenherr, of Columbus; Mr./Mrs. Paul Schoenherr, Waterloo; Mrs. Eddie Todorovich, Thermopolis, Wyo.; Bill Grap and Aimee and Mrs. Carl Grap, Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. Clarence Hagedorn, Fond du Lac and Mr./Mrs. Wilmer Kroll and Norman Dux, Wausau. Also attending were numerous friends of Loyal, Greenwood and Neillsville.

Stan, I know being a cousin twice removed of Bernice and her family, they lived several years in the Town of Pine Valley in Clark County, when Bernice and her siblings were young and had attended the same country school as I did. Her Mom and my Mom were cousins from Mom’s paternal side, the Kopp’s.
