John Ellenbecker, a former Edgar resident, celebrated his 95th birthday Sunday at Sunny Vale Manor, Wausau.

Ellenbecker has 146 living relatives.

They include his four living children, Mrs. Sylvester, Schedek, Athens; Mrs. George Spaeth, Stratford; Mrs. Walter Juedes, 1204 N. Ninth Ave., Wausau, and John, Edgar. There are 32 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Ellenbecker was born March 5, 1977 in Mackville. He married the former Miss Marj Kipp in April 1903. The couple had a total of seven children, three of whom are deceased.

Mrs. Ellenbecker died in 1939.

Ellenbecker farmed in the Town of Frankfort in his early years, and then moved to Edgar where he was employed at the Edgar Basket Factory for about 16 years before moving to Wausau.

He was an avid card player until about a year ago, when his eye sight failed. His interest have included gardening and listening to news and baseball games on radio.
