Himes, Mr./Mrs. Lester (40th – Oct 1976)

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Himes feted their parents with a 40th anniversary party on Saturday, October 16, 1976, held at the Meadowview Country Club from 8 to 2 a.m. Dancing to the music of Bob Haas and Bob Butterfield made the evening enjoyable, and lunch was served. The cake was decorated especially for them by their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Douglas Himes. The tables, flowers and corsages added to the occasion.

Coming to attend were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss (Nancy) Garret, son, Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Himes, and son, Leslie Himes of Milwaukee. Other relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holt and son, Tom, and Mrs. Larry Gustavson of International Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Brennan and Mr. and Mrs. Erland Johnson of Afton, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Himes of Finland, Minnesota.

Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Himes are retired and live in a trailer home on their home farm, which is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss Garrett

The Himes were engaged in farming from 1938 until 1971, when they sold the farm. Both Mr. and Mrs. Himes are early residents of the Town of Longwood. Mrs. Himes was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burmester. Mr. Himes lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Himes Sr. until his marriage on October 17, 1936.

Since retirement Mrs. Himes finds more time for her hobby of crocheting, and does work with the Helping Hand.

Mrs. Himes does yard work and helps with the farm work on his son-in law’s farm. He belongs to the Rod and Gun Club. The Himes are members of the Withee Methodist Church.
