Plautz, Colleen (24 Jul 1976)

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee was the scene of a lovely wedding which united Miss Colleen Plautz and Charles Wirtala, both of Withee, in marriage on Saturday, July 24, 1976. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Plautz of rural Owen, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Vendla Wirtala of rural Greenwood.

The Rev. Douglas Groenewold performed the 2:00 ceremony, while the music was rendered by Miss Diane Johnson of Curtiss, who sang “Time in a Bottle” and “The Lord’s Prayer”. Miss Aileen Zarnstorff was the organist.

The bride was attired in a bicentennial dress featuring a pleated ruffle lace applique on the sleeves and the bodice. She wore a Juliet cap with lace edge, and carried a bouquet of roses, carnations, and baby’s breath.

The maid of honor was Miss Kim Plautz, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Michael Greschner, Owen, Miss Linda Suda, River Falls, and Miss Gail Pawlak, Withee. Their gowns of polyester knit in apricot, lavender and green were fashioned with full skirts and angel sleeves. They carried flower potpourri of carnations and daisies with the color of the dresses.

Following the ceremony a reception and supper were served in the church dining room, with a dance that evening at the American Legion Hall, Loyal.

The bride and the groom are both graduates of the owen-Withee High School class of 1972. The groom is branch manager of the Clark Country Farmco at Withee, and the bride is office manager at Mid-State Equipment Company at Owen.

Following a wedding trip in northern Wisconsin the newlyweds will make their home in rural Withee.
