Thompson, Karen Kay (29 May 1976)

Miss Karen Kay Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson, Curtiss, and Steven E. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brown, Colby, repeated marriage promises during a 3 p.m. ceremony on May 29, 1976 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss. Officiating at the Ceremony was the Rev. Dennis Olson.

Scott Thompson and Patrick Brown seated guests for the ceremony.

Music during the ceremony was the Wedding Son, Sunrise-Sunset and the Lord’s Prayer.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, selected a white empire style gown trimmed in Venice lace and featuring a full chapel train. Her veil was attached to a Camelot headpiece, and she carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white carnations.

Her attendants, Miss Deanna Lueth, Denver, Colorado, maid of honor, and Marilyn Koplitz, Rockford, Ill., and Cathy Smejkal, Sturgeon Bay, bridesmaids, were attired in floor length floral print dresses and wide-brimmed white hats. White and pink carnations and white roses tipped in yellow comprised their bouquets.

Attending the groom were Gary Sommer, Curtiss, best man, and Dale Bauer and Gary Krauter, both of Colby, groomsmen.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church, and a dance took place at The Sword in Colby.

The new Mrs. Brown graduated in 1969 from Abbotsford High School and in 1973 from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. She is employed as a claims adjustor at ITT of Thorp. Mr. Brown, a 1967 graduate of Colby High School, is a truck driver.

Upon return from a honeymoon trip to Northern Wisconsin, the couple will reside in Colby.
