Zoromski, Rudolph L. “Rudy” (31 December 1941 – 26 April 2021) With Flag

Rudolph L. "Rudy” Zoromski, 79, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen.

Rudolph Leo Zoromski was born on December 31, 1941 in Stevens Point, the son of John and Frances (Janikowski) Zoromski. He was raised and received his education in the Galloway area, and graduated from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School. After completing high school, Rudy attended college for 2 years before enlisting into the U.S. Army on November 8, 1961, serving until his honorable discharge on August 10, 1964. He was united in marriage to Rita I. Schank on September 25, 1965 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence. After their marriage, Rudy worked several jobs in the Altoona area, before moving to Eau Claire in 1968 and starting his own business, Tri-County Equipment. In 1973, they moved to Thorp where they owned and operated Rudy's Porter Paints. They bought a farm north of Thorp, in 1979, and farmed until his retirement.

Rudy had many interests, but especially enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, polka dancing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Rita, of Thorp; his children: Dennis (Laurie) Zoromski of Thorp, William (Yvonne) Zoromski of Appleton, Karen (Jeff) Chmelik of Thorp; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 4 brothers: Harry Zoromski of Galloway, Gerald (Bonnie) Zoromski of Wausau, Emerick (Dorothy) Zoromski of Galloway, Joe Zoromski of Neenah; one sister: Mary Ann Slaby of Wausau; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darren C. Zoromski on December 24, 2004; 4 brothers: John, Jim, Fr. Herbert, and Longine "Gene" Zoromski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by Thorp American Legion Post #118. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
